Rare hymn book by Gottfried Kleiner (1691 - 1767) born in Rudelsdorf, Silesia, as son of a clergyman, studied theology in Leipzig, then became a private tutor; in 1722 he became pastor in Seifersdorf, and in 1742 pastor in Freiburg near Fürstenstein, where he died on February 1, 1767, at the age of 76. He was a popular and capable preacher; a collection of his sermons, which he edited, appeared in twelve editions. He is also the author of 130 hymns, which he published in his „Gartenlust im Winter“ (first published in 1732, then reprinted in 1749) and in his „Evangelische Zionsstimme am Sabbath“ (1739), some of which are still found in congregational hymnals.- KVK: Leipzig, Stabi Berlin.
